The fantastic Trailfox is BMC at it's most sly and spry. The TF02 XT can adapt to just about every extreme condition, and can be tamed for cross-country as well. The basic idea is a bike without limits, and manners that allow it to climb as well as it descends.
 
The TF02 shares a main triangle with the TF01. It's the same carbon-fiber out of the same mold with the same geometry and features. Tapered 1 1/8" to 1 1/2" headset, down tube bash guard, BB90 bottom bracket, ISCG05 mounts, internal cable routing, even for the Rockshox Reverb 150mm dropper seat post. And it puts you in a great position for maximizing the benefits of 29er wheels, thanks to their Big Wheel Concept. And eats up bumps without sacrificing pedaling efficiency thanks to their Advanced Pivot System.
 
The TF02 is different at the rear triangle. A welded aluminum rear end replaces carbon fiber. Heavier, yes, but more durable. The triangle is designed to work exactly as the carbon-fiber did, and it comes with the same features. A 12x142mm thru-axle, a chain-slap protector, an underside cable guide, and a front derailleur hanger.
 
As the name implies, this bike is kitted out with Shimano XT components. XT is at the 38/24 crank, the 11-36 ten-speed cassette, the low profile Shadow Plus rear derailleur and so on.
 
203/180mm Shimano rotors stop DT/Swiss M1700 Spline wheels, a climbing all-mountain wheelset. These are dressed in Continental Mountain King/X-King 2.4 ProTection tires. ProTection is a new puncture-protection casing that is light and supple and can be converted to tubeless.
 
Fox takes on the bump smoothing duties. A 150mm Fox 34 Talas CTD E-S fork, with two positions and three damping settings, means you can really dial the ride. In back, a Fox Float CTD BV Performance gives you those same Climb Trail Descend positions on a knob you can easily reach down and flick on the go.
