The race bike is the jumping off point for BMC. The Trailfox TF01 XTR is the team ride, and the one from which the rest of the Trailfoxes are derived. BMC treats racing as the crucible for design. They create for racers, have racers thoroughly test them first in training and then competition. If the best riders in the world riding the roughest trails known to mankind can be happy with a tool, it will surely meet or exceed the needs of most riders.
As a team bike, the TF01 gets the team treatment. It is built tough for the trails and light to climb mountains. Top of the line Shimano XTR is the vast majority of the build. 38/24 crankset, 11-36 ten-speed cassette, Shadow Plus low-profile rear derailleur, integrated I-Spec RapidFire Plus shifters, and Trail Hydraulic brake calipers.
Those calipers stop 203/180mm rotors that are attached to DT/Swiss XRC 1350 Spline wheels. DT/Swiss uses a very explicit naming convention. XRC is cross-country racing carbon. 1350 is 1350g, the weight of the wheelset. Spline is the name of the straight-pull hubset that has Shimano splines for mounting the rotors. DT/Swiss is legendary for producing smooth-rolling, long-lasting hubs, and these are no exception. This is a light, tough tubeless-ready wheelset that is covered with Continental Mountain King/X-King 2.4" ProTection tires. ProTection is a new puncture-protection casing that is light and supple and can be converted to tubeless.
Eating the bumps in front is the 150mm travel Fox 34 Talas CTD fork. It's very adjustable, with both a two-position adjustable starting point and a three-position Climb Trail Descend adjustable damper that has a handlebar-mounted remote. Eating the bumps in back is Fox's 150mm travel Float CTD Boost Valve with Trail Adjust. CTD is Climb Trail Descend, a three-position, trail-adjustable damper, which allows you to fine-tune the air spring for the conditions you're encountering as they occur. The sliding elements on both are finished with the slippery Kashima coating for long-time smooth running, even in messy conditions.
And to further your ability to adjust the bike to the conditions, BMC has spec'd this bike with the Rockshox Reverb Stealth 150mm dropper post, also with a handlebar-mounted hydraulic remote—and this hose, as with the rear brake hose and the derailleur cables, is routed internally.
BMC packed this bike with lots of smart little add-ons. The BB90 bottom bracket lightens up the bike and increases stiffness. The ISCG05 mounts make it easy to keep your chain from dropping to the inside while the built-in cable guide keeps it flowing and the integrated chain-slap guard protects the chain stay from dings. The under the bottom bracket bash-guard keeps rocks from smacking you precious carbon.
The BMC Trailfox TF01 XTR drops you into the rarefied domain of elite racing, a build that will help you regardless of the competition, even if the competition is the mountain itself.
